Moving company in Ånge and the whole Ljungan valley

Ånge lies just over ninety kilometres west of Sundsvall, in the valley that follows the Ljungan river. We drive out here all year round — to the town itself, to Fränsta and Ljungaverk, and out to the houses where the last stretch is gravel road. The price is agreed before we set off, travel time included, and the same company handles both the move and the final clean.

Ninety-five kilometres west on the E14

The E14 west out of Sundsvall runs ninety-five kilometres to Ånge, a little over an hour behind the wheel. The road broadly follows the same east–west valley as the Ljungan river, and it is along that valley that almost every address sits: Ånge, Fränsta, Ljungaverk, Torpshammar, Alby, Erikslund and Östavall. Route 83 runs south from Ånge. A move out here is not a quick trip round the corner — it is half a working day in transport there and back, and that is exactly why we agree the price before we leave. Travel time is part of the fixed price, so you are not charged for the kilometres on the E14 and there is no adjustment afterwards because the day ran longer than expected. If you can be flexible on the date, we would rather place two jobs in the valley on the same day than drive an empty van one way; that usually shows in the quote. The bedrock here is gneiss and diabase, which gives steep drops and sharp differences in height right beside the valley floor. Driveways and slopes up to the houses are generally steeper than they look on a map, and a fully loaded removal van behaves very differently on a steep gravel drive than a car does. So we always ask what the last stretch up to the door looks like before we decide which vehicle and how many people to send.

Cold in winter, weight limits in spring

It is colder here than on the coast. The cold record for the province of Medelpad was set in Fränsta, −42.0 °C on 1 January 1979, and the January mean in the western parts of the province sits around minus seven degrees against a little over minus two at the coast. The record snow depth for Medelpad is 160 cm, measured at Ulvsjön in January 1982, and the higher ground gets over 700 mm of precipitation a year against 500 mm by the sea. In practice that means three things for us: we clear and grit the carrying route before the first box goes out, we lay protection in the stairwell and hallway because snow and grit come in on every trip, and we load anything that cannot take the cold last and carry it in the cab — paint, detergent, drinks, plants and electronics all suffer in a cargo space that cools down over an hour on the road. If you pack yourself, put those things in their own box and mark it, and we will handle them separately. In spring it is road bearing capacity that decides things instead. During the thaw the road authority — the municipality, the Swedish Transport Administration or the private road association — may temporarily lower the permitted gross weight, often to 4 or 12 tonnes, or close the road altogether. A loaded removal van is above those limits. If you live on a private or gravel road, tell us when you ask for the quote: we check the restriction, bring a smaller vehicle or shuttle the last stretch. That solution is priced into the quote and never appears as an extra afterwards.

Estates, generational handovers and houses being sold

Ånge municipality had close to 15,000 inhabitants in the 1970s. In June 2026 the figure was 8,920, and the town of Ånge itself, which had 3,942 inhabitants in 1960, is now somewhere around 2,700–2,900. The municipality covers 3,296 square kilometres, of which 87.8 per cent is forest and 1.8 per cent built-up land. That development shows plainly in what we are actually booked for in Ånge: more clearances of a parents' house than moves into a new one. Often the children live in Sundsvall, in Stockholm or abroad, the house is going on the market, and nobody has time to drive up several weekends in a row. So we do the whole chain — go through the contents, take what is being kept to where it belongs, store what has to wait until the estate is settled, remove the rest and clean the house for viewings or handover. Having one company across the whole flow means one price and one contact instead of three quotes to piece together. Two things are worth mentioning in advance when a house has stood empty. If it has been left unheated over the winter we need to know whether water and electricity are switched on, because a move-out clean cannot be done without hot water — turning it on a few days beforehand makes the clean both faster and better. And tell us what is being kept before we start; marking a chest of drawers in advance is easier than tracking it down afterwards. What qualifies for the RUT deduction in your particular case is set out in the quote.

Something else you want to know before you book? Call us — you will speak to someone who does the work.

  • Yes, we work across the whole of Ånge municipality all year. It is just over ninety kilometres on the E14 and takes a little under an hour and a half. Travel time is built into the fixed price, so it does not appear as a separate line afterwards. If you are flexible on dates we can often combine your job with another one in the valley.

  • Usually yes. During the thaw the road authority can lower the permitted gross weight to, say, 4 or 12 tonnes. We check what applies to your particular road and solve it either with a lighter vehicle or by shuttling your belongings out to a loading point on a larger road. Tell us when you request the quote and it is priced in from the start.

  • Yes, and it is the most common kind of job we get here. We go through the house, document it with photographs, take whatever you want to keep to your home or into storage, remove the rest and clean the property. You do not need to be there all day — we agree on keys and check-ins beforehand.

  • It can, but the water and electricity need to be on — without hot water there is no move-out clean worth approving. Ideally turn the heating on a few days in advance so the house has time to dry out. Tell us the situation when you ask for a quote and we plan the cleaning day around it, rather than turning up to a cold tap.
